TIPS - How to create a case

Transform your teaching with our artificial intelligence tool! Energize the case study method and engage your students in an interactive and modern learning experience. Discover how our platform can enrich your courses and prepare your students for tomorrow's challenges.

AUNEGE offers its members the use of this conversational artificial intelligence tool at the service of the teacher to energize the case study method.

Process:

Step 1:
A user who obtains topic creator rights will have access to the "Create a new topic" button. The fields to complete are explained through examples that the creator can reuse and customize for their case study.

Designing a conversation topic involves defining:
  • precisely the characteristics of the virtual interlocutor (the role the artificial intelligence must play)
  • the instructions given to students (who do not see the virtual interlocutor's characteristics defined above)

Step 2:
Each topic is automatically assigned a topic key that the teacher can modify and provide to students so they can create a conversation.
Several conversations can be created from the same topic: one conversation per student for individual work, or one conversation per group of students for collective work.

Step 3:
Each conversation is assigned a conversation key. This is only useful in the context of collective work. It allows students from the same group to join the conversation.

Get Support

Would you like support in creating a topic? Click the "Create a new conversation with a key" button, use the key AssistantCreation. Let TIPSY guide you.
Example: Suppose DUPONT and DURAND are 2 students working in a pair. DUPONT uses the topic key provided by the teacher to create a conversation. He starts talking with the virtual interlocutor and gives the conversation key to DURAND. A little later DURAND enters this conversation key and can continue the dialogue. DUPONT, DURAND, and even the teacher who created the topic can see all messages and continue to interact.

Simplified representation of TIPS data:

Simplified data model
Every new message entered by a student is stored in the application to be added to the conversation.
The virtual interlocutor's characteristics and all exchanged messages are then sent via an API to a generative AI infrastructure which generates the virtual interlocutor's response. This response is stored in the application and sent back to the student.

Student Support:

Advanced Feature: Adding advice for students
The topic creator can add advice for students within a given conversation.
They can either type the text directly or request assistance from artificial intelligence.
A prompt is then proposed which includes:
- instructions given to students,
- the definition of the virtual interlocutor's role,
- all messages exchanged in the conversation,
- an analysis to be performed by the AI (e.g., did the student play their role as an expert well?).
This full prompt is editable. Once launched, the advice generated by the AI is displayed and can be modified before validation.
This advice will then be displayed in the conversation for the students, on a yellow background.

Example of AI-generated advice for students:

The students did not truly play their role as experts and advisors to the virtual entrepreneur, Pierre, when it came to analyzing his needs and proposing digital transformation solutions. Instead, they often relied on Pierre's detailed answers without asking enough relevant or specific questions to deepen the discussion. Tips to improve their interaction:

  1. Ask Open and Specific Questions: Encourage Pierre to develop his answers by asking "why" or "how" problems impact the business.
  2. Active Listening and Validation: Rephrase his needs to show engagement.
  3. Propose Concrete Solutions: Make suggestions based on digital transformation knowledge instead of waiting for Pierre to provide all the info.
  4. Follow an Action Plan: Propose concrete steps to implement digital solutions.
  5. Use Scenarios or Case Studies: Introduce similar successful cases to make the discussion more engaging.
  6. Refer to Experts: If information is missing, suggest consulting digital transformation or procurement experts.
By integrating these strategies, students can better fulfill their role as enlightened advisors.
